Nice post Dave. I just wonder though, for those of us who aren't millionaires, do we use the excuse of "true wealth" as a reason why we aren't? Do we tend our souls saying it's ok, so we don't rage against the rich?

I have to imagine millionaires have fun too right? :)

I agree 100% with the get rich slowly principles of living within your means, avoiding debt, and investing early and often that you mention in the post.

It's a shame that so many people out there are looking for ways to get rich quick when the truth of the matter is that the path to financial success is a simple one.

What isn't simple is being able to actually travel down that path - to build the patience to stick with something simple that is going to be good for you in the long run.

Great post - keep 'em coming!

Great post, I think you've done an amazing job summing up the situation and I totally agree with you.

I always find it silly when I read stories about the old retiree that was always so worried about saving money that when she finally passed away with over a million dollars to her name but no one to pass it on to.

The same applies when I read stories (or more often, hear about it from people I know) about someone or a couple who lived far above their means and ended up poor and miserable.

As you said, there are a lot of people out there giving advice that follows a very strict guideline of how personal finances should be done, and it bothers me.

People need to realize it is never so simple and shouldn't get caught up in a certain way they are told they should live their lives.

So very true that many of the non millionaires think that the key to success is getting rich quick rather than slowly but surely building wealth by working hard and spending responsibly.
