What Can You Get for $1 Million or More? 5 Celebrity Listings Active Now

Go ahead, gawk at some celebrity homes for sale. It’s a guilty pleasure, but you might even learn a thing or two about the real estate market.

We’ll leave celebrity worship to the gossip blogs, but sometimes we can learn a thing or two from people in the public eye — like when celebs earn tens of millions in their 20s and are bankrupt by 40.

For better or worse, many celebs live large, and nowhere is that more obvious than the price-tags on their homes.

Check out these celebrity homes for sale or recently sold. Sure, these listings are fun to drool over, but you might also learn a thing about your own search. For example, you might notice how small some of these ridiculously expensive homes actually are. A good reminder than when it comes to valuing real estate: Location, location, location!

One-hundred and sixty three acres of privacy and this gorgeous Rancher style ranch home are now on sale. The home was originally listed at $11M but recently had a drastic price reduction. Although there have been many upgrades since it was custom built for the Kennedys in 1963, some aspects, such as an original bathtub and underground bomb shelter have been maintained. Source:

The details: 5 bedrooms, 4 baths; 12,561 sq. ft.

Houston’s home was built in 1992 and sits on over 5 acres, for plenty of privacy. It boasts floor-to-ceiling windows. For recreation, it offers a tennis court and pool. If you like cars, this property has enough space to park 15 of them! The property was listed in 2012 at over $2M but never received any qualified offers and was taken off the market. Now, Houston’s estate is selling the home. Source:

For sale: Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick’s Calabasas Home ($3.499 million)

The details: 4 bedrooms, 4 baths; 5,400 sq. ft.

According to Forbes, Kardashian and Disick purchased this 2004 build in 2010 for $1.7M. They then hired designer Jeff Andrews to decorate the home with a very unique style. The black and white wallpaper and flooring is a little bit too much for me, but one man’s trash(y style) is another man’s treasure! The home also features a luxurious kitchen, two walk-in closets and marble accents in bathroom. Source: Forbes.

Sold: The new L.A. crib of Glee Star Harry Shum Jr. “AKA Mike Chang”  ($997,000)

The details: 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths; 1,827 sq. ft.

This Hollywood Hills home was built in 1937, but recently upgraded. It has a country style kitchen and a private terrace that overlooks a garden and play area. So this purchase may have been under the $1M mark which isn’t much for most celebrities, but still, not a bad purchase for a 31-year old! Source:

Sold: Michael C. Hall’s (of Dexter fame) Hollywood home ($2.1 million)

The details: 5 bedrooms, 6 baths, 4,572 sq. ft.

This sunny, Spanish-style home was purchased by Michael C. Hall in 2012 for $1.95M and recently sold for a tidy profit. It has a lovely outdoor dining area plus a media room, library, reading room and wine room. The home also features a one-bedroom, one-bath cottage, perfect for hiding work equipment such as plastic wrap. Source: Zillow.
