FNBO Direct Voted Best Online Savings Account

Kiplinger’s magazine has voted FNBO Direct the “best online savings account of 2008″.

It didn’t surprise me. With industry-leading interest rates, a $1 minimum for opening a new account, no monthly fees, and a free ATM card to access your cash—FNBO is proving itself be as a great place place to save online.

Read more about FNBO in my earlier FNBO Direct online savings account review, compare FNBO with other high yield savings accounts.

Note: Since 2008, FNBO’s rates have fallen slightly below some other top rates. They’re still a great place to save, but you can get a slightly higher APY elsewhere. Checkout the latest online savings rates or search all top deposit rates at MoneyAisle.

Your original reviews are what brought me to FNBO in the first place. After reading this, I’m glad I went with them. They’re great! So…thanks!

I’m an ING Direct loyalist and have been since 2004. I’m happy for FNBO though, I always love good competition. ING should see what they can do to compete in 2009.

The rate is good. There is a 4.07% apy savings account listed at Money-Rates.com called GCF Bank. Does anyone know if this bank has good customer service? Looking to move money from Countrywide Bank which lowered their rate. Thanks.

I’m still quite happy with ING, too; although since about a year ago their rate has trailed a lot of other online high yield banks. I agree that FNBO’s success will be good for online savers at all banks because it will keep raising the bar for rates and service.

Mia, I’m not familiar with GCF, but that rate you’re referring looks like it is a promo for 90 days, then requires a $200,000k minimum balance to maintain. Their current regular rate for balances under $25k is 2.45%.
