Thanks, Readers! I Hit Record Traffic and Revenue in March!

I was inspired by Clever Dude’s March traffic figures (congrats!) post this morning to share my good news, too. March 2008 was a record for Money Under 30 in terms of visitors and pageviews, and I set a record in my online earnings too! Here’s the skinny.

According to Google Analytics, I had 9,973 unique visitors and 17,646 pageviews.

My earnings for the month? $1,391.15. Not bad for a part-time gig I can do anywhere I can take my laptop! Especially considering just six months ago I was working a part-time second job just to earn about a third of that in a month! Blogging hasn’t helped me quit my day job yet, but it did let me quit my second job!

While traffic and revenue is growing at a nice clip here at Money Under 30, the one area I am still really struggling in is subscribers. As you can see I only have 75 RSS readers! I do have another 100 or so on my email list, but I feel like I’m way behind in the subscriber game. Want to help me out and subscribe?

I know why though — I made the mistake of not focusing on subscribers when I started the blog, and I also had a few periods where I didn’t post very regularly. I’m remedying that now by writing an editorial calendar, trying to write posts in advance, and soon I will be soliciting guest bloggers for some upcoming weeks when I am traveling. If you’re interested, let me know.

    Most of it from this blog, yes. I do have one other site that brings in a little.

    I’ve done a lot of monetization experiments since I started the blog, and found that taking pages that do well in organic search and finding relevant affiliate offers for that page is by far the way to go.

    I used to dabble with selling ad space and optimizing adsense, but it can’t compare.

    The adsense ads I have on now, at the foot of each post, are more of a reader service than a revenue generator, as they hopefully provide links of interest to readers if they are still browsing on a particular subject.
