Meal delivery kits make eating a plant-based diet simple, with fresh organic ingredients for every diet, including vegan. I review the top 6 services.

Meal delivery services can be incredibly convenient, not to mention delicious — even if you have strict dietary requirements. I’ve been pleasantly surprised over the last number of years what is actually available including keto meal delivery to your front door. And indeed, if you’re looking for organic, plant-based, even vegan meal delivery services, you’re in luck, because there are a ton of options.

While some of the more popular meal delivery services such as HelloFresh do offer vegetarian or “plant-forward” meals or services, they don’t guarantee weekly options. Plus, if you don’t eat cheese or eggs, the vegetarian options they offer often won’t work for you, as they’re loaded with dairy.

Similarly, you’ll find organic ingredients in several of our favorite meal-delivery services, including Blue Apron—but while they do try to use organic whenever they can, they don’t guarantee it 100%. If eating non-organic is a dealbreaker for you, then you’ll have to look at a service that can better meet your requirements.

So I’ve combed through all of the top meal delivery services to find the best vegan and organic options for you (and your wallet). Here, I’ll share my favorites.

How I came up with this list

To come up with the best organic and vegan meal delivery services, I took into account the organic and vegan options presented by each company. Many of the most popular services, including Blue Apron and HelloFresh, didn’t make the cut. That’s because they could only offer a small proportion of organic ingredients or strictly vegan meals. For someone who only eats organic, or vegan, or even vegetarian, there weren’t enough options to make a weekly subscription worth the price.

The services that did make the cut offered a strong-enough commitment to both organic ingredients and plant-forward dining options to give these types of diners a reason to subscribe with confidence.

In making this list, I also took into account the pricing and shipping fees for each company, ruling out companies that went beyond the average per meal price of $9.99-$12.99. I also ruled out companies whose delivery options were too restrictive or were not nationwide.

FAQs

For many people, eating healthy is only part of the equation — they want to make sure that they aren’t being wasteful with the packaging necessary to ship these meals. Fortunately, you will find eco-friendly packaging with these companies. Sun Basket offers recyclable and compostable materials for shipping. Green Chef is committed to eco-friendly packaging and even takes care to offset the carbon emissions for each box it delivers — and has done so for every box so far. Purple Carrot even provides a complete illustrated guide for how to recycle the different components of its packaging, from the outer cardboard box to the cooling packs that keep your ingredients fresh.
When ordering from these meal delivery services, you have the option to customize your deliveries, including the number of diners you’ll be feeding and the number of meals you’d like to receive.
You can pause or cancel your subscription at any time. To skip a week or pause your subscription, visit your account page and look for an option called Schedule or Pause. With some services, you may need to call customer service directly.

Summary

Eating healthy doesn’t have to be hard. With a meal subscription service, you can have good-for-you dinners delivered right to your doorstep, with the confidence that they’ll meet your dietary needs and requirements — without a lot of planning or effort on your part.

Plus, you can change, customize, or add on to many of these options, ensuring you can have the variety you crave and the flexibility you need.
